Being stil new to Porsche, I have a question: does the oil pressure indicator change dynamically when you drive (up and down depending on speed, rpm etc) or stationary? I am still in the getting used to phase. I start to agree with the "once you go porsche..." cliche.

Thank you.

Yes! the oil pressure gauge does vary with speed, rpm etc...when warmed up, at idle it should be at about 2.

I don't think (road) speed has anything to do with it...

The oil pressure pump is directly connected to the engine - so engine speed determines oil pressure. The higher the engine revs, the higher the oil pressure (up to the blow off pressure valve built into the pump).

Cold (thicker) oil will show a higher reading than hot oil will.

And idle oil pressure is not the vital one - the important reading for a healthy engine oil pressure should be read above ~3000 rpm with a hot engine.

From MY03 Carrera Owner's Manual Page 80:

"With a warmed-up engine and at a speed of

5000 rpm, the engine oil pressure should be

approx. 3.5 bar."
