I have a 1988 Turbo S. I had a ATP Stage II chip and a cold intake installeed by a reputable repair shop last year. It ran very rough until it warmed up and then ran better. The mechanic who is not a Porsche expert worked on it for some time trying to fix a suspected vacuum leak that he thought was causing the problem. The problem did improve but I did not have time to drive it as I immediately put it in winter storage. I just pulled it out of storage 3/24/2011. Drove it home and it drove so rough it was bucking and stalled out several times on me before I barely got it home. Did not improve on warm up. I live in Endicott, New York. Is there anyone out there that knows of an expert Porsche mechanic near me in NE US that could diagonsis and correct the problemm. Frustrated as last year I only got to use the car for 2 weeks and the rest of the time it sat at the repair shop with the mechanic trying to fix via trial and error. Did not work. I would like to take my car to someone who has the capability to diagnosis and fix. Please respond with any known Porasche exoert mechanics near were I live. A friend of yours that lives in Columbia, SC has the same identical setup in several of the 944's he owns and has no problems. We have tried all his suggestions through the local repair shop with no succes. So we know that if properly installed it should work very well without this rough running.
