Alright Guys,

Just recently came over to the porsche side of the world. I have a porsche cayenne s 2003, the engine management light is on but not flashing, had it reset and was fine all day until the car was started the next day. The code that is showing is

P0864 TCM communication circuit range performance,

Does any one know what the cause of the problem is or any pointers would be gratefully appreciated?

Also all 3 lights are also on next to the rocker control for Onroad/Offroad is this normal?

Thanks again

Neil

thanks for the prompt reply, it was at a local garage his diagnostic machine doesnt have porsche settings in the menu on the computer, but did reset it and give me the code P0864 TCM communication circuit range performance.

Might need to try another garage to connect a different diagnostic machine into it?

Does TCM circuit range performance mean anything to you? Also the 3 lights are on continuous for the terrain settings?

thanks again

The three red LED's should light up during a bulb check function( in the rocker switch) then go out if no fault is present. If it's a communication fault being triggered it can set a check engine light. You really need the correct scan tool to sort this out. Be sure the battery and charging system are up to par as they can cause many odd issues in a cayenne.

Thanks again guys for the quick feedback and glad i found this site. Hopefully this is only a software issue as the car drives fine. Fingers crossed a big repair bill is not coming my way as this car is newish to me and want to enjoy the porsche experience without always going to the garage.
