Swapping 996 engine. Current engine a/c works well (cracked cylinder or head though). Would you leave the compressor in the car so not to break the coolant lines or just do the swap and recharge? New (used) engine shown below.

The compressor remains in the car, it takes some fiddling to separate the compressor from the engine and back into place because some of the bolts are hard to reach.

I had my motor out a few weeks ago and separating the A/C unit from the engine is a whole lot quicker, despite the hard to access rear bolt, than recharging the system and definitely a lot cheaper.

Just my 2 cents worth.
