Boxster as a daily driver?

How many of you guys owning Boxsters use them in every situation including winter? I ask because I've been on the fence about selling my daily driver and now I actually have two friends interested in buying it - cash. Which would be nice. But I feel like in the long run and in winters I'll regret it. My 2000 Boxster doesn't have traction control and the very minute amount of snow driving I did was pretty terrible, tire spinning starts and a bit of sliding.

Anyone care to talk me into or out of selling my other car?

I went and got groceries today in my boxster.. tight fit.. motorcycle tires barely fit in the front if you need to take one in. I dont think a boxster is a good daily driver, IMO, I'll never sell the escalade, :)

I bought my '03 S in 2008 and it has been my daily driver since. As long as you have something else it makes alot of sense to me. I also have a Land Rover Discovery 2 that we use as the family truckster when we need to haul things. I have driven it in the snow by accident, and as a rule I drive it every day that I won't need to haul more than one person at work, or need to pick something up.

My logic buying the Boxster is that it's comfortable to drive, averages about 26 MPG commuting, and is just a blast to drive. I've made many roadtrips to Atlanta, Charleston, and High Point in it, it does as well ont he highway as my 2000 C class Benz.

You can get a 50 pound pail of chlorine sticks int he front trunk, a 20 inch pizza box in the back. I also hauled 36 feet of baseboards and 3 boxes of prefinished hardwood floors in it with the top down, there are pictures.

My 88 Silverado broke down last November, which I was using as my daily driver/utility vehicle, and I didn't have the time to fix it. No matter what kind of mood I was in, getting in my Boxster always made me happier instantly. It was my daily drive for about six months until I finally got around to fixing my truck. I try not to drive it as much to keep the miles low, only 66k for an MY00 so I can still get solid resale for it, if that's what it comes too. My Boxster handled just fine during the GA winters, but we didn't have any snow, some ice and it slid like any other vehicle would, but I had no problems with mine. As everyone else is saying, you can't fit a whole lot into it, that's why I've got my truck. Same rule of thumb goes for me as it does N41EF. If I know I'm going to be driving people around or picking something up, I'll take the truck, otherwise, I prefer the car. Not to mention the mpg is twice what my truck gets, lol. And still half as much to fill up, even with premium.

I bought a 10 year old Boxster with 100k on the odometer, so somebody must have used it as a daily driver but if you live where it snows a lot I don't think it would be a good idea. I remember the TV broadcast this winter during a snowstorm somewhere and a Boxster was spinning out. Even if you get winter tires the ground clearance would likely be a problem. Not to mention the salt damage.

With proper tires you should have no problem. A hardtop would be nice if you have a plastic window.

Prior to this on my S2000 I drove it year round (but glass window with defroster) with Blizzak LM snow tires. I used to get funny looks from the snow plow drivers as I would pass them on the backroads that are my daily commute. The only time ground clearance was an issue when we got 8 inches overnight and the plows hadn't come yet but that was the same for everyone on our street without a truck until the plows came through.

WIth the Boxster I don't have to drive it in the winter as I have a beater/mileage mule TDi for that now but there's no reason not to if you don't mind the extra wear and tear on the car.
