About to visit a local socal dealer, but thought I'd first check with Renntech.

Whenever I press down on my clutch, I get a loud popping sound. Not a click, but a pop that also can be felt through the pedal.

This is a new issue I've never had before.

The car shifts and runs smoothly as usual. Only a new pop-feedback when pressing-down on the clutch pedal.

Could it be:

1. Clutch assembly going out? I only commute with this car.

2. Hydrollic Assist going out?

3. Does my transmission need oil?

What do you guys think?

When I get this fixed, I'll post the fix.

I'm sure other 2006 997S owners will experience this issue at some point. My car is at 55K miles.

Thanks for the feedback.

Is the sound in the pedal mechanism or the the bell housing (near engine)?

The sound is coming from the front. Maybe near the pedal area?

Nothing is heard from the back of car, but that's hard to judge.

Real feedback through the pedal when pressing down, causing the audible 'pop' sound.

This is not a spring or anything with the pedal itself. When the car is off, the pedal presses down fine with no 'popping' sound or feedback issues.

Hope this helps.

OK, for people that need a fix to this issue, here is what I found.

While having the clutch issue described above, my engine oil was very low. One bar showing on my dash. I ignored it because my oil pressure was always at 5 when I drove.

Anyway, I put a full quart of oil in, and now I cannot get my clutch to make this sound anymore.

This may be a coincidence, but my problem is now gone.
