I've got a strange oil leak on my '05 CTT. The attached picture is from the drivers side wheel well. I can't figure out

where the oil is coming from, but as you can see oil is somehow getting unto the air inlet tube and running down the frame

rail and evantually dripping on the floor just in front of the drivers side wheel. I can't see any other signs of where the oil

could be coming from. It's almost like there is a small pin hole in an oil line somewhere. Any advice is much appreciated.

if not, there are a couple other reasons why oil leaks occur in that region.

Cayenne turbo leak oil at the bank 2 (drivers side) turbo. They vent the crankcase through that turbo under boost. Porsche has a ATI bullitin instructing use to just replace the seal/hose coming off that turbo going into the intercooler.

Just had mine replaced while doing other work.

I know this thread is a little old, but i have exactly the same oil leak (05 CTT), that could be a picture of my car!!. Do you recall where the oil was leaking from? To me it looks like it is coming from the outlet of the intercooler....does this make sense?

I did read the TSB but the leak is not coming from that joint. I pulled a few parts and covers off over the weekend and found it was leaking from the outlet seal of the left intercooler. I ordered a couple of new orings (57mm dia x 4mm) for that joint, after i install them I'll post the results. thx

What ended up being the result of the replacement. I might have the same problem, just need to know if I should order the parts.

My 2004 CTT had the same leak. Thought it was the hose. Nope, dealer washed it down, drove around and discovered that it was valve cover gasket and the leaking oil just happened to collect there. replaced gasket -- no more leaks.

How much labor involved in replacing the valve cover gasket...?

Given it appears easy to get to, you may be well served to do this yourself. There are 3 gaskets involved, valve cover, the spark plug gasket and variocam solenoid gaskets. I will be doing these soon as i get settled (moving across country).

I just did my valve cover gasket on my '03 Cayenne Turbo. And let me tell you that it was a bear. Especially with those **** bolts that are so close to the firewall. That's the worst part, really. I would allot 2 days and a lot of patience.

 

Also, torque specs are very important! My pig had about 80k miles on it and I basically discovered that some jacka$$ had already replaced the graspers, but they used mismatched bolts and didn't torque everything down. Therefore......the leaks came back.
