Took car (2007 C4S)to dealer for a rattle that seemed to be coming from the exhaust. 5 days latter we are replacing the CARDAN SHAFT W/BRACK, and some other parts. Got the car in on the last day of my factory warranty, CPO takes over now. Can't complain about how long it's taking, my loaner car is a panamerra. I do have to say that the panamerra shoul not be available in a V6, I looked under the hood and there is a huge gap infont of the engine.

Seddy,

Startup noise from exhaust is just beginning on my 06 997 C4S (with PSE). after 2 minutes it goes away. What did yours turn out to be?

I still have the noise, I am sure Porsche fixed another noise but it was not the one I was concerned about. I have not taken it back yet because it only does it when the engine is cold, so I have to leave it there then come back so myself and the tech can listen to the exhaust.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the secondary air injection, because does it makes the noise for 2 minutes, then stops. If I turn it off and restart, no noise, have to wait till it gets cold.

I seem to remember a TSB about the weld breaking on the exhaust tips causing a noise.

I also have the same startup rattle he describes on a 2006 C2 Cab. I am running aftermarket exhaust so I don't know if the factory exhaust tip TSB would be the culprit. Sounds almost like a rattling heatshield but it is very brief and goes away in less than 30 seconds so I have never bothered with it. Would love to know if there is an easy fix though!
