Hi

I just wanted to clarify from someone what's inside the big box-like structure in the front trunk of the turbo's

I've seen pictures of people mounting stuff (like amps etc) to this box, and I wondered what was inside before I start drilling.

It sounds very hollow, is it where the fuel tank is?

I assume it a safe to mount stuff on?

My car is a 2004 tiptronic turbo cab, right-hand-drive (ROW spec).

Thanks

DS

Be very careful, it is the fuel tank!. The tank is big plastic container. (see pics) And I don't know how much space you got between the wall and the reservoir. Again be very careful....

Phillipj is correct - the front axle and drive are under the hump. The fuel tank extends further to the center of the car below the battery - however a portion of the fuel tank does extend beyond and over the front axle.

You both got me! I took of this black panel once to remove the round cover to get access to the fuel pump ???? I guess the fuel tank is from the top down to about 18 inches ??? Ok just saw your picture Loren and thanks for cutting your car to prove a point but you did not have to biggrin.gif If I am wrong delete everything so we do not confuse anyone Loren. Thanks

Thanks Guys, (nice pic Loren)

I was looking for a place to mount my JBL GTO 6 channel amp. It is big.

Unfortunately as my car is RHD the brake booster is where the CD changer is in the above pic, and the ABS pump is on the left hand side.

My car has a plastic panel that covers the whole top up so you can't actually see that round hump thing that covers the fuel pump, so I'll have to muck around a bit to find a mounting point, as I can't really impinge any more on the tiny trunk.

Thanks

Isn't it possible to put the amp/subs behind the rear seats. There is small luggage compartment or BOSE two subs.

Not in a cab....top mechanism is back there.

It's a BIG amp.

I'll keep mucking around and see. I might need to go with several smaller amps rather than 1 big one, but the GTO is such an awesome piece of gear....

I know this is an ancient thread but here is a picture of the 2 Amps I have in the front of my 2003 TT
