I have a 2006 Cayenne S with a very frustrating radio problem. In every car I have owned, it's always been possible to select a radio station frequency and program it to a specific button on the radio console. Once the programming is complete, every time you press the button, the radio automatically goes to the preprogrammed station and shows what frequency you are listening to (i.e. 104.3, 106.7, etc...) In this Cayenne, I can get as far as programming a station by holding down one of the buttons for three seconds but the screen doesn't display the actual station frequency. Instead, it programs a random set of letters such as L-1, L-4, L-K... At first, the dealer didn't know why the radio was doing this but later came back and stated this was normal because the radio stations I am programming are sending out more than just a radio signal such as weather information. Apparently, there is no way to fix this problem. The interesting part of all this is that from time to time, I am able to program the actual radio frequency depending on where I am driving. Has anyone ever heard of this issue and is there a fix for it?

I have a PCM. I found another post that recommended turning off the RBDS and then trying to save the station and it worked for the most part. There's still a few stations where I can't get the frequncy to save on the screen and others only get saved with their call letters. If you know of any way to eliminate this problem all together, i'd much appreciate the advice. Thanks in advance.
