How many considering giving the car a clay bar treatment?

I have done in the past and will do it again! soapbox.gif

I used to work as a valet detailing cars, and clay bar was a must have. If your surface is already smooth as glass you probably don't need to use it, but you'd be surprised the difference a good twice over with a clay bar will do. I give my car a deep exterior cleaning, including clay bar, once a year unless I'm in an environment prone to over spray, then its on an As Needed basis.

I agree with the above posts. A clay bar really cleans the surface of the paint before waxing. It does not scratch the car, and is actually quite easy to do.

Get the car clean, use the good old sandwich bag test and clay as required. If you use good sealers / waxes you shouldn't need to do this too often unless you're in an environmentally nasty place. Good news is it doesn't hurt anything and will help. Make sure you use detailing spray NOT soapy water as a lubricant.

Also remember that clay doesn't do paint correction, it doesn't get rid of swirls or scratches, it just removes contaminates from the surface.

i too agree that using a clay bar with some good quick detail spray as a lubricant is the easiest way to make your car really stand out.
