I am insatlling a GT-2 wing on car, having is prepped and painted. Painter asked me to find out what base coat of car is so to match with new part. My car is Seal Grey Metallic 2001

Anyone know by chance?

Hi, the colour code should be under your bonnet/hood. On my paint system the codes coming up are:B64,B65,L6B4,L6B5 or Y1. It could be any one of those codes but there are various shades for that colour so you will have to gt the bodyshop to check that for you.

I found the color code for seal grey prior to post, under the hood I cant find any info with paint codes on it however. My car is orignal so not concerned that info was removed from body damage etc. Where would I look exactly to find the additonal codes. Apparently my car could have a white base coat and painter wants to be sure so to match to Porshce standards.

Thanks.

Being a sprayer i would use a dark primer for that basecoate. I don't think the primer would be white.

I asked the same question regarding white. He claims Porsche uses a base coat over primer and they are different. He seems to be researching it on his own.
