For past couple weeks now my car has been acting wierd. It some times acts as if the power has been disconected. Also, after startng up it will display " Start Engine" and the engine will be running. Also the Drivers corner light and signal light (front) constantly states it is out and the bulbs are good, and the beams look as if they are bouncing around trying to adjust it self.

All this started when we moved here to Pensacola Florida......where the closest dealership is 50 miles away and I have yet to find a reputable indy shop here... not that I have been looking hard. So if anyone knows of a Indy here place pass on the info.

Thnx

Original Battery is failing IMHO, Autozone then follow the very good instructions in the user manual.

the front batterie, the back is just for auxiliary like air pump...

I know the answer is probably both......but, which battery needs replacing? The front one or the one in the rear?

Thanks

The second (backup) battery is used only to start the car.

From the 2004 Porsche Service Information Book...

"All Cayenne models can optionally be equipped with a backup battery (starter battery). This backup battery ensures that the vehicle can still be started even if the vehicle battery (main battery) is discharged. The capacity of the backup battery is 480 A/85 Ah.

If two batteries are fitted to the vehicle (main battery and backup battery), these are connected or disconnected to the bus bar in the power distributor through a relay. The switching of the two batteries is controlled independent of the load management (function is integrated in the vehicle electrical system control unit). The starter relay of the 2nd battery is actuated parallel to the starter relay. That means for every start the starter is supplied from both batteries. The backup battery is disconnected from the vehicle electrical system when the engine is switched off and then supplies just one consumer, the vehicle electrical system control unit."
