Hi!

I have been reading this excellent forum for quite some time but today is my first post.

Now I have a problem with my 2001 Boxster S and I would appreciate any help or suggestions of other things to try.

Symptoms:

When the car is unlocked the lock button on the remote does not lock or arm the car. The LED on the dashboard blinks when I press the button though so I think the car receives the remote signal. When locking with the key in the driver door the horn honks once and only the drivers door locks. The lock button on the dashboard locks both doors without problems. The car starts fine with the key.

Additional info:

I have checked the fuses related to the alarm system and they look ok. This is when I found something really strange; when I removed fuse E1 the lock and alarm started working. With E1 removed I can arm/disarm with the remote, lock both doors in the driver door keyhole and so on. I cannot start the car without the E1 fuse though. Right now I put in the fuse to drive and remove it to lock the car.

The symptoms described appeared two weeks ago but then disappeared after a few minutes without me doing anything. They reappeared yesterday when I had parked the car in the garage after a 45 min drive.

Any suggestions of things I should check or try would be greatly appreciated!

I also wonder if there is any way I could force the car to lock when it is in this state?

Best regards,

Rasmus

Thank you!

I've tried both keys with the same result. Also, the LED on the remotes and on the dashboard flashes when I press the button on the remote and they work when fuse E1 is removed so I think it's safe to assume the remotes work.
