Hi There,

Just wondered if anyone has gone to the expense of fitting an Akropovic slip on exhaust to their 996tt ?

If so , how do you find it and is it worth the expense ? How is the sound compared to other aftermarket systems, and is the power increase quoted a reasonable expectation ?

Much appreciated

Yes sir they now have an exhaust for 996tt, an absolute thing of beauty as well it is. http://www.akrapovic.com/car-exhaust/products/porsche/

However, this unfortunately comes at a huge cost.

So realistically, the option of buying one new is sort of out of my budget by a fair margin at the moment. However, if anyone had opted to go for one and found it head and shoulders above the competition, I may be tempted to save hard for it.

I believe Akropovic supply the exhaust to Porsche for the 997 GT2.

I don't know the product, but would recommend the Europipes...great history with the Porsche Turbo and speaking from experience, great product.

Hi,

or try fvd brombacher,we have it on GT2(996),complete exhaust system(pipes, cats, muffler),and it sounds very nice, maybe too loud, really loud.I don't know for turbo996,but there are not much differences beetwen them.I don't know for power, because I installed a lot of stuff on the car together to increase power, but first we had on just muffler and cats, then later I added the pipes, and the sound was almost the same, only roughness changed.

I come from country of akrapovic and here is no sign of 996 with that brand of exhaust, only 997.Maybe you could order the exhaust(akr.) in USA,they could do it for your car,but $$$ and $$$,a lot of them.

And the cats of both brands could easily be burned on track, and belive any other too after a 10 or more track days.

sorry for my english

I tried many different suppliers to see if I could pick up a discounted Akro system, but to no avail. Cheapest system in the UK was coming in at about £5000 fitted.

Sourced a few companies in the States that would supply at a discounted price, but then to ship to the UK and customs / excise expenses would bring it pretty much in line with the UK costs. Way toooo much money !!

Not yet heard from anyone ( after posting on several forums ) that has had one installed.

I ended up buying a used Techart system, but am no able to install it yet, until my OPC warranty runs out.
