Winterize- Fuel Stabilizer Question

Does anyone have a reccomendation for a Fuel Stabilizer to use? I was told by a colleague that Fuel Stabilizers with Methanol can be very harmfull to the 911 Engine. I went to PepBoys auto supply and none of the fuel stabilizers notate Metanole and the service people could not tell me. My local Porsche dealer has none of their brand left so I am out of luck there.

Second question: I will be filling up the gas tank to the top, how much of the fuel stabilizer should be used?

I have never winterized the car and will be doing so this weekend for the next 3 months. Any assistance would be appreciated!:help:

Ever since ethanol in gasoline became prevalent around here (about 6 years ago), boaters swear by a product called "Star Tron Enzyme Fuel Treatment" by a company named Star Brite to treat their gasoline after the boating season.

This was also recommended by a long-time carburetor rebuilder when the Holley on my boat crapped out from fuel left in the boat's fuel tank and the float chamber in the carb.

Before ethanol, Sta-Bil was the standard for storing fuel. This stuff apparently works in a different manner. IIRC, it only requires one ounce for every 16 gallons, and the company says adding more will do no harm.

Hello Loren. I am looking for the car to sit all winter and not move it. (it will just be waxed and stared at by me):D

Sta-Bil now makes an ethanol compliant blend of fuel stabilizer. Be sure to read the directions and only add the amount needed for the amount of gas in in your full tank. Filling the tank also helps prevent moisture condensation and corrosion.

Porsche thinks enough of the Stabil products (both the original red and the newer blue) that dealers are recommending them for regular use as well as storage.........
