Hello all,

I have just had a full new audio system installed, and am enjoying the quality of the Alpine Cassette / Tuner / CD Changer / iRiver input / Genesis amp / JL audio speakers.

The bass is far more punchy, treble no longer pulls my ears off, and MUCH louder without distortion.

I have kept the Porsche headunit , Cd changer and speakers intact

A minor question though - Since the CDR22 has been removed, the central locking system now flashes the lights twice and the horn beeps once. From the Porsche manual, this means the alarm is telling me that the radio alarm is not set. Well, that would be because the radio is gone.... I don't think it is the storage tray or the doors.

This may not be a problem, but I am not sure from the manual description that the passenger compartment sensor may be off.

The question then is does anyone know how to short out / fix the contacts on the wiring loom to stop the control unit missing the radio?

I can then advise the car audio workshop what to do about it.

Thanks for any help.

Doh!

Took the car to the car audio installers, showed them your answer, and they have solved the problem!

The trick is that the circuit is NOT made in the normal situation, but if the head unit is pulled out, the contact is MADE, causing the alarm to go off. Insulating tape on the side of the replacement units is the answer.

Many Thanks again.

Slit by the The Upbeats on tape sounds fantastic on the car stereo !!!
