Folks,

I'm not sure if I'm imagining this but my 03 sounds uncharacteristically loud all of a sudden...it may be because I've been driving it with the top up and I'm now more keen on the sounds of the Boxster, but....

The only way to describe it is my engine sounds as if the tachometer is at very high rpms when in fact my tachometer is around 2k to 2.5k.

In other words, it sounds like it needs to shift to a higher gear, but when I look at the tach, I'm fine...

It seem the only time it sounds "normal" is when it is idling...

Does this even remotely making any sense to anybody?

With the few information you give, it looks like a defective clutch assy. Let it checked ASAP to avoid additional costs.

Thanks RFM for getting back so quickly!

What more information do you think I need to provide to give you a better understanding?

My 03 has Tiptronic...do you still think it may be clutch related?

I may just take to my Porsche mechanic and ask him to take it for a test drive....

I was on the understanding that it was a manual gearbox, Tiptronics have a limited amount of slip. Anyway, let the car check at a reputable workshop to be sure.
