Fabspeed "NEW" instake with dual conical filters?

Hi guys,

I have been searching for an air intake system for my '04 GT3.

I tried K&N 63-7001, but there's not much luck with it for slight difference

in chassis between 996 & 997.

I almost ordered Fabspeed's GT3 Performance Air Intake System with BMC Filter

, however I found something new today.

It is named "996 GT3 Maxflo Competition Intake" and its image and dyno result

are coming soon.

I guess it is very similar to 2009 997/997 S High Performance Air Intake with Carbon Fiber Heatshield,

which is VERY attractive.

I can not wait for the detailed information.

Is there anyone already installed? or any opinion?

Although I don't have a GT3 I too have looked at that set-up. I just don't see how that design could prevent your engine sucking up a lot of HOT air rather than cold. There is no way that "heat Shield" can prevent hot air from getting to those filters. They have a similar set up for the 997 Turbo. After talking to quite a few folks I decided to stock with the "sealed" stock intake and just add the BMC filter Just my 2 cents. Hope someone with a GT3 wil chime in on this for you..

I feel the same way with you.

I guess that the carbon fiber plate between the engine and the filter

plays the roll of "isolation".

I am not sure yet whether it will work in a condition of slow moving,

stopping in traffic or not.

(in adequate speed of moving, it will probably work due to its nice air induction)

Interesting. Don't the cup cars run a cone filter?
