Here's the trouble - the Central Information Light (the red Exclamation Sign) light comes on and sometimes stays on, sometimes goes off all on its own. And, no secondary lights light up either. I checked - and all the bulbs seem to be OK, as in turn on if the ignition is on. Once I acknowledge the light, it tends to stay off, but not necessarily.

Has anyone seen this kind of behavior before? According to the manual, the CIL should not illuminate all by itself, there ALWAYS should be the second warning light. I ran the OBDII software diagnostic tool, and no codes came up (other than the dreaded secondary air intake reporting a problem - but this is typically accompanied by the CEL, which has been on. This is a known issue to me, and it does not trigger the CIL).

So - stumped.

I have only seen two lights. Be sure all warning lights are working. I can't remember but does your vehicle have the exclamation light that is also a push button?

Warning lights all seem to be working. The 993s have the push button to "acknowledge" the CIL alarm.

I thought I'd go back and provide some closure.  It turned out that there WAS (or, rather, would have been) another warning light - except that the previous owner took out the bulb from that socket.  It had to do with the spoiler deployment alarm - the car had the aftermarket wing installed, and whoever did that, did not address the error that was going to be thrown up because the harness got disconnected.  You have to short certain points on the harness to avoid the warning light - once done, the issue went away.  The key moment was the realization that perhaps I should actually pull out the speedometer and see if the bulbs are present, rather than make an assumption.
