My Cayenne's battery is dying on me. I wondering what a good battery is for replacing the factory battery? Also, can the job be done DIY? What special insructions should I know before taking on the project?

Just replaced the battery in my wife's '04 Cayenne S. A couple of notes:

1. I bought the 10mm triple square bit (1/2" drive) at NAPA for $10. Well worth it, rather than trying to make something else work.

2. Before tilting the seat back, you should remove the 2 plastic trim pieces at the aft ends of the seat tracks (i.e. in front of the rear seat foot well). Otherwise, these prevent you from tilting very far, or you may crack them. The manual didn't show this, but the pieces pull off straight backwards pretty easily.

3. The interior/carpet panel that you remove from the front of the seat is a pain to get off and difficult to get back on without leaving a gap. There are 2 clips on the lower front side that you can pop off, then you need to get the corners up and over the seat track forward trim pieces, and then you push it rearward to disengage the 3 clips under the seat. Wish I had good advice for getting it back on nicely. Mine still has a gap.

Good luck. Pretty easy once you have the tool and figure out the interior. The rest is very straightforward. Could do it again in under 30 minutes. Well worth the DYI effort!

You didn't say what year? Depending upon year there are two batteries. One located under the driver seat and one in the rear hatch compartment under the sub woofer. Most of the time the driver seat battery goes first as this is the primary and rear is aux and starting.

Any 92AH or better battery that fits is suitable.

as they said, DIY section stands for Do It Yourself, where people post articles on how to do things. I went to that section, typed in 'battery replacement' and scrolled down.

Clicked on one article that said 'Battery Replacement with Pictures'. Hope it helps you.

Has anyone heard or have experienced problems with the fuel system (fuel pumps specifically) when having a bad battery. I came across some articles suggesting that there could be a relationship. I have been having issues with my timing getting pulled with my evom tune and I have been narrowing it down to possibly low fuel pressure. I replaced all the fuel system components with no improvement. I just replaced my battery today because I have been getting weird codes on durametric which per my research led towards a bad battery. Also when testing my battery, it was becoming weak at holding a charge. After replacing the battery, my driving issues seem to have gone away. I don't know if it was the ECU getting reset because of the battery being disconnected or better charge to the fuel pumps with the new battery. I would be interested in any thoughts of those on the forum.
