I have a 1999 996. In the past few weeks, the spoiler light go on when I reach approx. 65MPH and the spoiler extends. The normal function of this light is to go on when the car is first started and then go out. It not suppose to go on when the spoiler go up at speed. The manual indicate that this light will go on if the spoiler is not fully extended. I have checked this carefully and believe the spoiler is fully extended. I found a 996 Tailgate wiring diagram in this forum. There is a "Spoiler Switch Lifting" device shown. I believe this could be my problem. Can someone tell me where this device is located. Is it behind the spoiler panel? It seems to me that is where it would be to sense the spoiler extention travel.

there are many threads on this topic found via the search engine. my memory is that the light switch is located at the hinge, but I'm not sure that's right. good hunting....
