Two days ago I traded in my Seal Grey 2002 Boxster 986 2.7 with 105,000 miles on a Seal Grey 2002 996 C2 Cabrio with 37K miles. Manual transmission, Black interior. With the Boxster trade and a couple grand I financed for about $430/mo. What?! My friend pays that for his Civic! That also includes a 7 yr/75K mile warranty.

Some guys on the 986 forum said I should find a Boxster S if I wanted more power but I figured screw it and bypassed it for the 911. Which is what I always really wanted anyway :) I absolutely love it! I really enjoyed my Boxster the four years I owned it. But this is just a whole other level of awesome that goes beyond the extra 100hp. I can't even imagine a 911 TT or GT2/3. Aside from some minor dings the car is in great overall condition...including the seats. :clapping:

Anyway I'll be hangin' around the forum.

here's my 02 boxster. The hood emblem I found on Ebay from a German artist who takes classic emblems and re-enamels them. Clear side markers and the hood crest were the first things to transfer over.

Congratulations! I did the same, traded in my 2000 986 for a 1999 C4 cabriolet. Like you, I enjoyed the Boxster, but there is just no comparison with the 911. Enjoy the car.

Too funny, I just did the same thing this past weekend... bought a 2001 Carrera Cabriolet and will be selling my 2000 Boxster S. I liked the handling of the Boxster but missed the interior room and extra jump seats of the Carrera. I had a 1999 Carrera before so I know a bit about them. Looking forward to starting the mod process for my new toy! :) David

AOS and spark plugs are easier to work on in a 986 than a 996..

I started the other way around. Got a 2000 C2 996 four years ago which has now morphed into a dedicated track car. Didn't like the gas mileage for my 90 mile daily commute in the Cayenne S, so got me a 1999 Boxster 2.5 a few months back. It was in pretty rough shape, except for the interior. After a lot of R&R (IMS upgrade, RMS, general tune-up and cleaning, new top, new windshield etc. etc. etc. etc) I am enjoying the little Box' as a fabulous daily driver.

My neighbors are teasing me now that if I add one more P-car, I should start a dealership.

I did something very similar. After my beloved '01 seal grey 986 S (44k mi) met its end at the front of an SUV, I upgraded (after much agonizing thought) to an '04 seal grey 996 C4S Cab. The Boxster had a removable hardtop, so it took some doing to find a moderate-miles (48k mi) '04 C4S Cab with a hardtop in my price range. Of course, it's an outdoor car, as its (newly restored but much older) cousin lives in the garage.
