How to tell if you have NAV

New owner of a used 997 Carrera 2. Equipmen t list said the car had NAV. Have not been able to find DVD unit, and the video unit says "Navigation system not available." Can a more experienced 997 owner help me out? (My previous Porsche, a 1975 just had Exxon maps in glove box.)

The NAV DVD reader is located in the trunk behind the plastic surround (driver's side).

Sounds like the DVD (disc) has been removed.

Open the trunk and open the first plastic door in front of you. There

should be a big plastic box that houses the NAV DVD player.

On new cars, dealers usually install the Nav DVD disc(s) upon delivery of vehicle to customer. On used vehicles, they typically remove NAV DVD disc(s) when the vehicles are on the lot and then reinstall when new owner takes delivery. Why? Updated DVDs fetch big $$$$ and therefore are prime theft targets...

Call the dealer and insist they give you the most updated DVD compatible w/ your hardware version. Make them install it too (at no charge) just in case the PCM needs re-flashed.

I just purchased a 2007 911 Turbo from out of state and when I turn the Nav on, it says it is rebooting. (It shows a segmented blue bar showing you where it is in the process. Only thing, the blue bar never moves).

When I hit "Map", all I get is the info and reading from where the car came from.

PS _ I didn't get any manuals with her, so I have no prodedures to follow.

Open the hood and look to see if a NAV DVD player w/ a NAV disc is installed.

It's behind the plastic cowling on the driver's side.
