Gentlemen, I want to talk about Engines, Not simply your standard 6 or high modified 4 bangers, but the Engines that are considered to be the best in their class, Hand made, careful attention to detail by the manufacture. The reasoning behind this thought, is, I just came back from a long distance drive using my wife’s CLK55 ///AMG, the 5.4 V8 AMG hand built engine is truly one of the best I have ever driven, the torque is amazing, it seems like it will never stop even at 120 she still pulls very hard, harder than my 996. With 368hp and 373 torque, it is one hell of a engine, Car and driver and Automobile magazine votes the 5.4 AMG engine on of the best ever made as well at the 3.6 Porsche 996 Engine, both of which I truly love. I had my wife race me off the line (mind you we both had on our winter tires) and she almost took me out, I had to work so dam hard to catch up and finally I took her, but not by much. I am very lucky to have two very fine cars at my deposal. My question is simply this, do any of you have another car that has a wonderful engine, if not, and what engine would you select to be one of the best in your experience?

P.S Another beauty is the M5 engine my brother has, I believe it is a 2002 M5, I also love that car as a whole also, if I was to ever get into a four door sedan, it would be the M5. :drive:

Just a reminder... this is Porsche forum, where we talk about Porsches. Please re-read the Board Guidelines/Rules if this is unclear. Please make sure your posts stay on topic. Thanks! :D

I am more of a Prosche Fan than most, I am simply discussing the Best of Engines, Regardless of The Manufacture - Are we only wearing binnders here, I think not. At our level in this forum, shouldn't we have an open mind ? If not let me know and I will kindly exit.

RJMDAD996 - You are more than welcome to post on this forum :) but keep in mind that Renntech is primarily a Technical based Porsche forum where you will find a lot of accurate in-depth technical information on Porsches - with a focus on the 996 series.

Users generally come here to find information on a problem etc and/or to post any technical findings/information they may have which will benefit others - and every now and then post a pic or 2 of their ride...

There are many other Porsche forums which usually contain general discussions etc and I also regularly post on a few of these - but when it comes down to Tech-Talk - Renntech is the go - Just ask the other forums :D

I like the topic, but maybe it should be in an off topic to accomodate all?

FYI, I feel the same way too. If I get into a 4-door it will be either an M5 or an S55

OK, so you ask about the best engines? Here is my best list: Porsche boxer [flat6, flat8 (908), flat12(917)] and CGT's V10.
