....not that I'm going to get any anytime soon, but I was just wondering what kind of headers, exhaust, and intercoolers people have had experiences with and what you guys would recommend?

So far I'm leaning towards Fabspeed for the mods mentioned. I tend to like my mods from one company as much as possible. I like the look of their dual exhaust and intercooler. For headers I'm torn between B&B and Fabspeed, but like I said...i would like to keep as many mods to one company as possible.

If you guys have pictures of your mods, please post them up! = )

thanks!

AKA30

We purchased a 79 930 last september, and with some help from the forum put together a spares kit, flew to Ann Arbor and drove 2000 miles home. I did not complete a PPI, and the car did fine with the exception of a fault on the fuel pumps at the fuse panel.

I have put about 4K miles on the car, it has a few tolerable oil lekas and now has 82K miles on it. I was interested in upgrading the exhaust from the current mild aftermarket system and upgrading the turbo, but I am concerned with the longevity of the engine with this many miles and boosting hp. We love the car and will continue to use it for club runs but won't be doing any DE events with it.. .just don't want to break it.

I will pick up a 911 which I can dedicate to a play race car.... and keep the old 930 in the garage for special events.

You see little regarding the old 930's in the forum, but the folks in the forum are great. Try the Pelican forum and any other speed related Porsche specialty houses like Fabspeed. Good souces for information. Congratulations on your car, and have fun with it...

The easiest mod is a 1 bar spring in the waste gate

The funnest one is a boost knob and a large boost gauge in place of the clock

A word of warning, boost is like drugs, booze or sex you just have to have it and extended periods of hi boost

result in melted pistons

Well if your car is indeed stock one of the best mods you can do would be the exhaust and a k27 turbo. The boost will come on earlier and more progressively.

I run the GHL headers with heat, although truth be known the heat works like the AC on these cars. Which is in a word: poorly.

The wastegate spring is a good way to make some quick HP gains but extended periods of time at this boost level will burn the stock pistons due to a lean condition. This can be addressed with fueling through an adjustable WUR, also a great mod, but honestly without an updated turbo you probably will not be able to maintain 1bar of boost for any length of time anyway, the stock turbo will run out of breath pretty quickly.

Hope this helps,

Sean
