Rear Armrest/center console replacement.

Hey,

Just bought a 04 CayenneS. It has a rip in the leather on the rear armrest. The repair shop wanted $300 to $400 to fix the leather. A new one is only $250. I have found a replacement at a junk yard, but does anyone know how to remove the armrest? i've scoured the internet with no luck.

No Problem, from what i've seen on here you are the man. :)

Its in the middle of the back seat. Folds down for an armrest and contains storage inside. I attache a picture of it. I'm just wondering how difficult its going to be to replace.

You will need to remove one backrest first.

Removing armrest cover.

1. Open up armrest 1 (arrow A).

2. Swivel the armrest cover 2 out over the backrest frame (arrow B ).

3. Unclip locking tabs 3 of armrest cover 2 at the backrest frame 4 (arrow C) and remove downwards (arrow D ).

Removing armrest with covering (rear)

1. Detach restraining strap of covering 5 (arrow E).

2. Release retaining clip 6 using a plastic wedge (arrow F) and pull off over the pin 7 (arrow G).

3. Close in armrest with covering 1 by around 45 ° and unhook from the guide 8 with the pin 7 (arrow H).

4. Unhook armrest with covering 1 from the guide 10 with the pin 9 and remove it (arrow I).

Installing is basically the reverse.

I don't know - perhaps $400 (if that includes the $160 part) is a good deal -- looks like a real PITA.

Wow see I was right, you are the man!

I"ll give it a shot and post how it goes. Hopefully not too bad, now that I have this. The salvage yard gave me a whole back seat for $200 so if I break something at least I have a back up :)

Removed the Armrest yesterday. Took about 10 minutes, no tools needed. Here are a few pictures, maybe they will help someone else.

The cover peals back pretty easy, its tough down around the hinge, but it will pop loose.

The clip in picture 2 pops off with your fingers.

The last picture in the right hinge, tilt the console up at about 45 degrees and you can actually look down and see the pin, just angle it up and pull it our of the hole in the hinge.

I, cannot for the life of me....get the rear armrest out of the hinge. What is the trick? Does the armrest need to be up, down or somewhere in the middle?
