hi...i got a problem with 911 turbo s 2005 !!when engine is cold it runs fine ..but when it gets hot it make a huge ratteling noise around 2400 rpm !! the noise is coming from the timing chain area (right side) is there any common problem that those engine has... i know that the early model has that problem but i dont know about this one... is there any part that i should be looking at closely.. engine has 30 000 miles.. thank you for your response.

note: i changed the tensioner with no success thx!

This is the worst subject to discussed about because of the complexity. A lot of people seems to have noisy engine to different level but not too many came out with a real solution. Some live with it. Some get the engine open and found worn bushings, very small wear and not too many dramatic wear. Some replace the oil with different grade etc. etc etc. If you do a good search with the words "engine noise" in all the Porsche forums you will found tons of hits and sometimes real good explanations but not too many real solutions except a "louder exhaust".....Shaft noise...., ims...., oil pump, engine noise, rod knock, noise...., idle noise, Ims..., normal noise ???, valvetrain noise, idle noise, Noise bad, IMS failure etc etc etc etc........

This post has gone very quiet, so firstly I have bumped it.

Second you say you changed the tensioner, if you do nothing else please post how you did it. I recon it could make a good learning post. :wrench:

Lastly, what is the score with the noise???
