Hello All,

I am at my wits end about a '05 Cayenne V6 and the CDR23 that has been in it since day 1.

The radio has been working perfectly till my friend bought the car and I did a scan on the Cayenne for him using PIWIS V27. Everything checked out fine and I did a Vehicle Handover and then the radio went into Protect mode.

When scanning for PCM or doing another Vehicle Handover scan, the radio would enter Service mode and then go into Protect.

I read that there is no radio code for the CDR23 and we did key in the VIN correctly. How else to revive it?

Or should we key in an incorrect VIN then try the correct one?

Gurus, please help! It's my itchy fingers that caused this! Should have left Vehicle Handover alone... :-(

Alvin.

Try this:

After activation out of production mode and then switching on the radio CDR23, the sound output is inactive (no sound audible).

1. Get out of the vehicle, close all doors and the lid and lock the vehicle using the hand-held transmitter.

2. Wait till the anti-theft protection LED flashes.

3. Then unlock the vehicle again.

4. Switch on the CDR23: the sound output should now be active.

5. If the sound output is inactive, the battery must be disconnected and then reconnected.

6. Ignition off: Disconnect and reconnect the battery.

Ok, will try and report back!

Goodnight!

Hi Loren!

No effect. Locking & unlocking via transmitter same result.

Disconnected the battery with ignition off. Still "PROTECT" is on the display of CDR23.

Any other way? This CDR23 is original to this Cayenne and until I did the vehicle handover mode on PIWIS, it was all fine!

Sigh..

Go to the MOST (or CDR-23) section of the PIWIS and have find on control modules.

I did that. It's under PCM. Once in PCM, "PROTECT" becomes "SERVICE".

There are no errors and when I run the MOST test, everything checks out fine.

I can find control modules and there is read code and write code function and I did read and write to no effect.

Is there anything I missed?

Also, if it helps any, when doing vehicle handover, it displays "PROTECT" initially, then enters "SERVICE" mode and I get a message "PCM woken up successfully". I feel happy for a sec then crestfallen when it says "PROTECT" again! Grrr...

Try this....

Checking the coding of the CDR23 and the amplifier is correct for the vehicle:

1. Using the PST2, in the menu "Control units" select "PCM2/CDR23",

2. Select menu item "CDR23" and then "Coding",

3. Check whether the designations for the vehicle coding "Type", "Variant" and "Left/Right-hand drive" are correct for the vehicle,

4. Select menu item "Amplifier" and then "Coding",

5. Check whether the designations for the vehicle coding "Type", "Variant" and "Left/Right-hand drive" are correct for the vehicle,

Example:

Type: 911

Variant: Coupe

Right/Left-hand drive: Left-hand drive

6. If necessary, change and enter the coding for "Type", "Variant" and "Right/Left-hand drive" to those of the vehicle using the [F8] key.
