6 speed fill plug

I am going to refill my 6 sp this weekend but am having trouble finding the fill hole in the location shown in the Bentley Manual. The Manual shows it on the left side right by the cv joint. I cannot find it there. There is a 10mm plug left side closer to the back. Is that it? Also what fuid do you reccommend?

The transmission drain is beneath the trianglualr metal panel on the bottom of the transmission. 6 speeds use an Allan plug, 5 speeds use a triple square plug. Use the OEM gear oil, Porsche uses a totally unique spec full synthetic gear oil. Gear oil manufacturers, the honest ones anyways, admit that they do not have a compatible lube.

The fill plug on my six speed was on the right side I believe. For some reason, I couldn't get it off, I think the bolt head was too shallow to fit the hex bit I was using or something. Fortunately, the transmission was out of the car so I just flipped the trans upside down and used the drain plug to fill it

You are a "poster child" example of why I always tell DIY'ers to take the fill plug out first, because if you can't get it out, it is a good thing to know before pulling the drain plug and finding out you're screwed......................

I have not yet removed the drain but will make sure I find the fill side before I remove the drain plug. Any other notes on whether the plug on the left side back is the right one?

The fill plug isn't in that location on the 6-speed transmission (that pic is a 5-speed).

From what I can see, the fill plug is on the right side next to one of the shift levers. Makes sense as it's roughly right around the same level.

The fill plug is on the left side 3/4 of the way back.. It uses a 10mm internal (allen wrench) hex. Mine was buggered out when I got to it and not I have to replace both the drain and fill to make it right. Each night when I go to bed I say a small prayer the lord of vice, my 25 year old vice grip pliers. They allowed me to remove the two plugs when I was sure I was going to have to drill them out and retap to change gear oil.
