Howdy Tool Pants, A couple or three months back I posted a question re: incidence of failure of RMS in TIP equipped cars. You responded, reasoning that the loads imposed by the two systems might differ, and indicated you would ask around. If you have since responded, I apoligize for having missed it. I have been off riding one or another of the three M/C's in the shed, different brands all. My question was posted under the user "HarleyDuc", but was unable to log in this time that way...hence "blakbox", fourple black if you count both tops! Ha! Now that the weather here has become bearable again it's back to 986 projects, first of which is those rusty lug bolts...ugh! Thanks Tool Pants, I appreciate your insight. '00 986 2.7L/Tip. 'duc

So much for that theory.

There have reports of seal leaks from tip owners. Redcab a 996 owner on rennlist. Riaz a Boxster owner on the UK Boxster board. And 996 owner Kirby who is on this board and lives in my area.

Tips are just not as popular as a manual transmission, but tips can leak as well. A manual transmission engine is the same as the automatic transmission engine except for the wiring.

Edit to include billgee with a 2002 S tiptronic. He is from Florida but on the UK board. His seal was just replaced at 27,000 miles.
