Hey, new here

I had a black/light-tan 1985-1/2 944 back in about '90, I loved that car (wife complained I touched it more than her) but as a daily driver for someone in their mid-20's, it just didn't work out for me (I DO remember having to replace the clutch, not something you forget!)

now, 20 years later and in my mid-40's, I'm ready for a toy!!! a black 944 turbo with the light-tan (linen?) interior would probably be my dream car (and also the red Ferrari 308 Magnum drove!)

so I'm looking around the internet and there are cars all over the country and all over the price-map, and I wondering, is it worth it to hold out for a later model turbo, like 1988, or go with the earlier model (1986's are everywhere) and do some mod's/upgrades myself?

there's a very interesting 1990 944S2 cabriolet with a reconditioned turbo engine in it, don't know that I really care much for a convertable, though, in the Dallas area both seasonal allergies and heat make me lean towards a coupe, but it appears to be a very nice car, but it's in St Pete, FL

also, how does one buy a car over the internet? if I restrict to local, my choices are very limited, but how can I buy sight-un-seen?

a further note, I am not looking for a project car, I'm perfectly happy to do maintenance and repairs as necessary, but I don't want to rebuild something

thanks for your help
