I have a 1999 996 C2 Cab with 17 inch wheels. I have two questions that hopefully someone can answer. Are there any issues with replacing my 17 inch wheels with 19 inch wheels? I also have a problem with striking the engine and skid plate on driveways with a slope. I replaced the rear struts and springs and it did not solve it. I always have to be overly careful about driving up or down driveways. Any ideas?

Porsche does not recommend 19" wheels on the 996 series.

Changing the wheel size does not affect ride height (when using Porsche spec wheels).

What suspension do you now have? US standard?, US sport, ROW sport? or custom?

And, are you using standard profile tires?

FWIW. My 02 996 had 19" wheels when I bought it. Given the choice I would actually prefer to go back to 18" wheels for a few reasons:

- I am running 315 25R19 tires on the rear...traction is very good however the car is pretty unforgiving on rough roads. A little more sidewall would probably help for non-track use

- the rear tires at this size are considerably more expensive then the stock size (at least with the PS2s).

- my guess is that the handling would likely be slightly better with 18" tires (although I can't prove it). The car seems to understeer more than I would like probably due to increased traction in the rear.
