Can someone please tell me what interior color code X1 is for a 2002 Boxster S US market vehicle. The vehicle also has acccesory code M981 (Leather equipment W/O seat covers). I had initially thought the vehicle was equiped with the Boxster Red Special Leather Interior option but other information indicates the interior code for this color combination should be ME.

If I understand the coding system correctly the interior color code should folow the paint code. In theis case it is L92U (Artic Silver) followed by X1

I think it is likely X1X1 - which is Boxster Red leather interior.

Click on the link (My Mods in the Registry) in my signature as my car is the same color codes.

Thanks Loren,

It is the same interior color scheme as your vehicle except for the handbrake, shift knob & boot. FYI the interior code from the Vehicle Identification sticker under the front trunk lid & service manual is X1.

I too have a L92U X1 and do not have a red interior. My info says the X1 is just Arctic Silver and it was listed under Exterior Colors Boxster S. Special Order red interior would be MC somewhere.

According to the VI code legend attatched to the vehicle & service manual line # 4. represents Paint No./Interior which is L92U X1. MC or ME is not shown anywhere in the VI sticker & the vehicle in question definitely does have a red interior as in Loren's vehicle so I'm assuming it is Boxtser Red special Leather as that was the only red interior offered in MY02.

The code for Boxter Red Special Leather Interior in MY 03 was ME. Was the code for Boxster Red different Prior to MY 03?

Does anyone have access to a MY02 order guide? I would like to be able to correctly state the options on the vehicle if I should decide to sell it at some point.

The info I provided that X1 referred to an exterior color was taken from a table in the 2001 order guide issued at model year introduction time-frame that I adapted into what I called my "build sheet".

The web page link here includes my front trunk options codes from the sticker and the 2001 order guide with what I interpret to be the options my car has highlighted in yellow background. It will show you a table of exterior colors and their codes.

I doubt there were many major changes to the order guide for 2002 as 2002 was largely a carryover of the 2000-2001 designs, the major changes came in 2000 and 2003.

Mike,

Thanks for the information. Despite the Vehicle identification Code line 4 indicating " Paint No./Interior" nothing in the VI/build sheet seems to indicate interior color for either your vehicle or mine.

My vehicle's VI line 4 & line 5 codes are as follows:

L92U X1

CO2 139 239 249 340

413 432 446 454 502

551 659 680692 981

983

The only M codes that indicate a non standard interior are M983 (seat covers, front leather) & M981(leather equipment W/O seat covers)

I guess what we come down to is the interior color isn't on the build sticker. Really odd, isn't it.

Can anyone else shed some light on this....
