I own a 2002 Boxster S and the front trunk latch mechanism works sporadically. I know it's not a switch issue because it doesn't work when I push the front trunk button on my remote nor when I try to actuate it from inside the car with the "front trunk latch" button next to the driver's seat.

Now here's what I have found odd: if I don't drive the car for a week and go out to start it up, for giggles I have tried to open the trunk from either the remote or from inside the car and the actuator works fine and it pops up.

Is this normal but opposite the key remote issue I've seen in this forum (i.e. the remote doesn't open the door but inserting key does)? In other words, the trunk works fine if I don't drive the car for several days?

Thoughts from anyone please...

Tim

I have the same issue, been dealing it with for over a year..let me know what you find out...I think it could be a wire harness issue as those tend to rust out at certain connection points.
