Alarm goes off every 10-12 hours

I have a 2005 C2 manual coupe that has lately had the alarm go off every 10-12 hours. Problem seems to go away if I double click the remote and turn off the motion sensor. I ran the codes on my Durametric and had the following codes.

(8042) Front Luggage Compartment unlocking

which leads me to believe that the trunk sensor is faulty. What is involved with troubleshooting this problem and is fixing it a DIY type project, what parts would I need etc??

Likely the microswitch in the front latch assembly.

I had this same exact issue. If the problem goes away when you double click the remote (which disables the interior motion sensor), then it's almost certainly a bad motion sensor. I'm not so sure that disabling the motion sensor (by double clicking the remote) also disables the trunk sensor....

Well the dilemma continues. I replaced the trunk microswitch yesterday and got a 2 AM wake up call today by my car alarm. Now I am thinking that the interior motion sensor may be bad. What is involved with replacing this part. I understand that it is in the arm rest compartment ...

Instead of guessing I suggest you find someone with the Durametric software, a PST2 or PIWIS tester -any of those will tell you exactly where the fault is.

Loren, I have Durametric and it did show a trunk unlock fault. Could my switch for the trunk release inside the cabin be faulty.? My trunk release switch is kinda loose from me pulling up to hard on it one time.

Yes, you are looking at a fault for the switch by the door sill.

Best open it up and see if the switch or wires are damaged.

Still on my to do list. The part is around 60 bucks, I just havent gotten around to doing it. Once I install it, I will post my results

Finally got around to replacing the cabin trunk switch. Part was 60 bucks at Suncoast . I was able to pry the old mechanism out without having to remove the door sill, Plugged in the new switch and snapped it in place. Problem solved
