I just bought a 1981 911 SC coupe with 85k original. Been looking for 2 months and finally bought. I had some cold start burps (small backfires) this morning

until it warmed up. I am planning on taking it to Ft. Collins Colorado (nearest Porsche knowledgeable) next week to have it tuned up and a pop off valve installed and wondered what I could expect to pay? it runs nice about 4600 rpm on the way home last night from Denver. Could not have been speeding as it showed 85 on the sppedo!!

Great inside and out with just a few minor (I hope) issues.

windshield washer doesnt squirt, 1 fog light bulb needs replaced, small oil leak (2 drops all night same spot.

handles like a dream, corners like its on rails and feel every bit of road.

Any help to this fish would help.

Thanks and happy motoring!!!

Congrats and welcome to the board! :welcome:

You will want to take care of your backfires/popping ASAP. A forceful backfire is known to blow the (plastic) air box (I speak from experience).

Once again welcome!

Welcome and congrats, thats a great car. Sounds like you need a new warm-up regulator and fast. Try to avoid any and all backfires as it can ruin your airbox. Those engines are real workhorses. Good luck.

Just let it warm up on its own with no help on the gas. A pop off valve is about 60.00 and a half hour todo. If you have a 90deg. drill, 2 inch hole drill. you can do it your self.... If you need guidence, email directly at Porscheworks@aol.com It will save you about $100.00 With that maybe buy a set of CIS gauges to do you own diagnostic's
