Hello All,

I have a friend that has the following issue with his Porsche Boxter 987:

There is no BIP BIP when he attach the seat-belt or reverse the car.

The Porsche garage didn't find any errors so everything is working fine but they suspect a failure with the instrument cluster....

Do you know if this is possible? Any other option to repair this problem withou replacing the entire instrument cluster?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Liberatod.

The most common problem is dirty sensors.

Thanks Loren for your reply. The Porsche garage checked everything and there was no errors. The sensors are working fine but there is no sound from the speaker apparently included into the intrument cluster.

This is why I doubt that an instrument cluster need to be replaced for such kind of problem.

I think the manual says a sound should be heard when selecting reverse, I think mine did it once after a dealer re-set done for a different problem.

I don't get any tones for the seat belts, I do hear tones from the proximity sensors.

As I have only recently bought the car and I don't know what is normal I would be interested to hear from others.

Not a very important problem, but it might be a sign of a larger one.
