996.552.131.04 A03 is the part# I got for "A" in the picture.

Is it complete one part including leaft & right trim (where switches & blank buttons are)?

Are "A" & "B" interchangable?

:help:

Depends on the model year. On a 996 they changed to one piece in MY02 whereas earlier cars had 3 pieces.

In the picture,

[1] Mine (97-02 986) (3 pieces)

[2] 99-01 996 (3 pieces)

[3] 02- 996 & 03- 986 (1 piece, but looks like some internal parts are required)

What I'm trying to do is replace [1] with [2] or [3], but looks like [2] is the only doable option. (Correct me if I'm wrong). Besides, I'm not sure the part number I specified above(for [2]) includes left & right trim pieces as well.

Any :help:

Since you have a Boxster, which had different shaped A/C vents at the top of the center console, I don't think you have any option. The Boxster A/C vents won't fit in the Carrera surround trim. I suppose you could also replace the A/C vents, but that seems like a bit much.

3 is Raman's 2003 Boxster. It has the piviot out cupholder below the vent that started on the Boxster in 2003, and on the 996 in 2002.

3 cannot be retrofitted to a pre 2003 Boxster as the air duct is different. Peter Smith at Stevens Creek Porsche tried to retrofit 3 into his 1999 Boxster and was not able to do so.

2 you can do but, like Loren said, you will also need the vent. But with 2 keep in mind all your switches will be horizontal, while on your Boxster they are at an angle. The icons on the switches will look funny.

As always, thanks for the critical information, Jeff!

I made an assumption that the air ducks are all same.

Thanks for saving me $$$. (I already purchased cup holder for 3, ****)

Well I got bored with my interior, trying to find something new.
