2004 Boxster Dash Illumination

I recently lost dash illumination which should go on when the lights are turned on. I have reseated the fuse, and it appears normal. I have heard that for some reason a faulty headlight switch can cause a problem with the dash lighting, even when the headlights turn on and off properly. Do I need a new headlight switch? Thanks!

Do you get the lights on the radio and climate control module? Try it with the ignotion off, and turn on the headlights, do you get the cluster lights then? Did you try adjusting the dimmer? Does it change the radio and climate lights?

You're right, the headlamp switch has a terminal or two in it that tells the car to turn on the illumination for the dash. N41EF is right too, if the radio and dash switches are not illuminated either, then the problem is most likely the switch. My panellights are too dimm

Can this be adjusted ?

My 01S has two stalks coming out of the upper part of the center dial - the tachometer. I can use the left one to adjust the brightness of the dash. If I turn the stalk clockwise, the lights get brighter. Counter-clockwise makes them dimmer. Hope this helps.

I had this recently myself. No panel lights and the warning sound for leaving headlight on stopped sounding as well.

I still had digital readout for speed and time though.

Had to replace the headlight switch.

Stationed in Germany costing me close to 200 Euros.

Voila--panel lights illuminate and warning sound restored.
