Exhaust Bypass Control Valve

I have a FisterD bypass on my mufflers but would really like to mimick the full PSE with the ability to turn up and down the volume. The diameter of my bypasses is 1 3/4", does anyone know of a valve (manual/electric) that would fit there?

Do a quick Google search on "exhaust cutout valve" and you will find a plethora of sources for these. Some come with flanges, etc. You should be able to find something that would work. I am surprised that no one has tried this yet on the 996's. I can tell you that I love my PSE because I have the option of letting it be loud or quieting it down. Sometimes the loud setting just gets to be too much, and if you get on it it really is loud.

Many seem to be for 2 1/2" and larger pipes. The FisterD uses a 1 3/4" pipe. I don't know to much about thoses valves any pictures of an installation ?

is there any benefits in term of HP gain when opening the valves ?

Is it modulating or on/off ?

No HP increase - just sound.

I've heard the opposite, that the 800 cells cat from Porsche was restrictive and that we could gain up to 10-12 hp by removing them.

Sorry, but someone is just trying to sell you something.

These normally aspirated cars won't get much more than Porsche has already extracted. With headers, open exhaust and a tuning chip you might (and I emphasize might) make 25-30 HP.

It's been covered here many many many times. A simple answer is no.

Porsche's normally aspirated engines have most of what you can get out of them.

A Turbo is quite different though - a chip and an open exhaust might get you 100 HP or more.

But the engines and their dynamics are totally different.

If you want a lot more HP - my advice is sell the Carrera and get a Turbo.
