Water Pump Replacement?

As I posted in Rattling Sound In Engine Bay my 2006 987-1 w/ 43k miles boxster began with a rattling noise in the engine bay that turned out to be the water pump. Took it to the dealer,'cause still have 11/2 month warranty on, I'ts being 1 1/2 weeks since. Dealer says it's a complicated & time consuming job. Is it really that complicated of a job? I've replaced water pumps on previous cars and is not more than couple of hours...

Changing the water pump in a 986 was quite simple. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being air in the tires and 10 being engine replacement, I would place it at a 4. Not sure if the 987 is much different.

I have had 4 pumps put on. I do not recommend the aftermarket Lasco Brand. Make sure its a genuine porsche pump.

Replaced the water pump on my 02 996, flushed the system, replaced a few hoses, added new coolant and it only took about 3 hours... And I am not a Porsche mechanic!
