I have a 6speed 1999 carrera 4. My oil pan is leaking some oil. I'm ready for a oil change too, so I'm thinking of doing both at the same time. Is there a gasket I have to order for the pan or do I just apply silicone around the edges?

Use Drei Bond Silikon - type 1209 or equal. Make sure the mating surfaces are very very clean.

7.5 ftlb. on the screws tightened diagonally from the center out.

corrected torque

Normally I would be reluctant to disagree with Loren, I know he has corrected me, and rightly so, on several occasions. But the manual states that torque on the oil pan bolts is 7.5 ftlbs, not 37 ftlbs. If you try 37 ftlbs you are going to strip the case out and be in for major problems.

The oil drain plug to the oil pan is 37 ftlbs.

YES - my mistake that is the drain plug. (I must have been asleep when I posted that!).

Corrected now!

Thanks for catching that Dharm55.

Correct torque is 7.5 ftlb.
