I have two Porsches a 1999 C4 Cab and a 2006 Carrera. I love the C4 Cab the BEST and just started to fix some small things like headlights, and cabin Air filter myself. I changed the cabin Airfilter in the front of the car however did not have the cap on and started the car. It made a TERRIABLE Warbling grumbling noise for 30 seconds before I could shut it down and determine that I left the cap off the cabin Air filter. Since I have done that the car has used a Quart of Mobile 1 synthe in only 1100 Miles? Could these be related?

Sincerly,

Soon to be X Handyman:D

One last note regarding the above topic. I do not drive the C4 hard at all.

Are you referring to the top of the cabin filter housing or to the oil filler cap? If the oil cap is making a sucking noise than you might have a failed oil separator.

My 996 C4 cab 2003 uses a similar amount of Oil, quart per 1,000 miles. Would love to hear more on this subject. I did not have any cap issues.

One quart in 1000 miles is considered within normal limits by Porsche.

Thanks - do you consider it within normal limits?

Yes, I know Turbo owners that use 1 quart ever 600 miles. Some of these cars use some oil and some don't.

I would be more concerned with any abrupt change in usage - double the amount used or oil level all of sudden too high are signs of problems.
