Horn Blowing

I have a 98 Boxster w/tip. The last two days the horn has been blowing when the pad has not been pushed. It usually occurs when I apply the brakes, but I can't say for sue if that is the only time. It is an intermittent problem and I am not sure if it is the alarm horn or the auto horn. Has anyone had this problem before and if so how did you pepair it? Thanks in advance. Ed

This is one of the most common problems on early Boxsters. The rubber bushings under the horn pad deteriorate and the horn will sound when you apply the brakes or hit a bump.

The solution involves laying a couple of beads of silicone to "build-up" the deteriorated bushings.

Do a search here for a DIY.

I think the airbag retaining frame is a pretty cheap replacement part too, if you want a new one.
