My 2002 996TT ran out of gas when the fuel guage was at 1/2. I filled her up and used it for a while and tried to checked the fuel tank. The guage showed 3/4 gas. I removed the gasoline in the tank and I got 33 liters out. Then, I checked on the hoses inside and see if it obstructed the fuel float. Then, I Tie wrapped one of the hose towards the firewall, as suggested in one of the renntech.org topics to avoid obstructing the float.

Then, I placed back the 33 liters, which should be at least 1/2 of the 64-liter fuel tank. However, the fuel guage reading is still at 3/4? I also cleaned the fuel float switch with WD40 to remove possible fuel gums. No change.

Is there any other way to fix this problem? :thankyou:

Cars with "saddlebag" formed fuel tanks and fuel pumps mounted in the middle and on top of the tank, as Turbo and C4/S, needs recalibration by the dealer using a PIWIS diagnostic tool. This type of fuel tanks must always be filled up to the top when empty, a partial fill (10 liter) will cause the problem what you have now.
