Hi, folks. Can any of you identify this part? I don't even know if it is a Porsche part. I found it this afternoon on the floor carpeting between the clutch pedal and the fuse box. It does not look like any of the black plastic controls inside the car (2002 base C2). It does not look to have come from my GPS, camera, etc. A locking tab appears to have broken. There is a small mirror on the underside. TIA.

mustache attachment for a Mr. Potato Head?

sorry couldn't resist.

looks like a sensor for auto dimming of dash/headlights, or rear view mirror positioning.

I'm going to have to agree with Judgejon, My Potato head without question..And a very collectable mustache at that..rolleyes.gif

Seriously... Doesn't look like a Porsche part to me.....

judgejon, I also first thought about Mr. Potato Head.

The part does fit on the clear plastic interior light panel above the dash. It appears to reflect the light from a yellow LED on to the rearview mirror. I've never noticed it before.

ok, part of the ambient lighting system.... good investigation, hope it can be easily reattached.

Yes, it was easily re-attached. I used two tiny drops of Loctite Super Glue Gel. This is a wonderful adhesive for small repair jobs. Also, it does not appear to harden in its container. I have had it for some months.
