I got the foam material at Home Depot. They have a roll of it in the weatherstripping department. It's 3/4" wide and black. It appears to be exactly the same as the original material and has worked perfectly on my install.

Eric or Maurice,

What is the desired thickness of the the new foam. That's the last thing I need to get before I start my top project this weekend.

Thanks,

Alan

Can you post a photo of your Home Depot foam repair. Im interested in seeing what it looks like.

Here are two photos of what the foam material is supposed to look like and the exact installation points:

(installed)

This was a factory piece that only came as part of a kit that was included in an OEM canvas top replacement from Porsche. Since it is not available separately, you should be able to make it from that Home Depot foam rubber. Just make sure it's closed cell foam and that it compressed to about 1/8th of an inch thickness when it is squeezed down by the shoulder plates.

Regards, Maurice.
