This is just short and to the point FYI for others. I had a 2.7 six cylinder motor built by Roy Marks at Motor Meister in Downey, CA for my 914. It was then professionally installed. The car ran well for about 100 miles when it began emitting smoke through the exhaust. At about the same time it started seeping oil from the tail pipe and exhaust system if it sat for three or four days. I made several calls to Roy Marks with out success since his receptionist was very effective at "screening" his calls. I could only get her to "take a message and he will call you back". He never did return any of my calls and I finally gave up. I'm not saying his work is bad or poor quality. What I am saying is this is not how you treat a customer but an example of poor customer relations.

Now you know why that shop has a "rip-off artist" reputation; they are butchers.....................Google them and see what you find…………

I checked them out several years ago and found nothing but problems. Including post-mortem teardowns that found old, worn-out parts and and shoddy mechanic-ery.

MM has recently added M96 series motors to their engine "rebuild" menu, so I expect to see more of this type of unfortunate post with the Boxster and 996 crowd.

MM has several rebuilt motors on eBay now.

For more Google "Motor Sheister" and you'll find lots of similar experiences on several forums.

I'm sorry to hear about your plight. I too was talking to them a couple years ago about rebuilding my M96 engine. Luckily I was saved by the folks here on Renntech and was told to stay clear.ohmy.gif

They (MM) along with Fabian Roocke should be banned from the Porsche communitymad.gif

Call back and ask for Roy but act like a new customer in need of information on a rebuild. Then she will put you right through and you can speak to that scum bag.....
