Hi there,

I'm thinking of replacing my stock exhaust tips with some nice new Fabspeed ones.

Can you tell me if I am able to easily get the old tips off and the new ones on without having to remove the rear bumper?

I've not had a good look around under there yet but I was hopeful I would be able to do this job by jacking the back of the car up and putting just the rear on some axel stands.

Can anyone offer any advice on this please?

Cheers,

Nick

Yes they can be taken off without removing the bumper.

After loosening the clamps you will likely have to pry them off. Be careful not to bend them too much and you reuse them.

Thanks for that Loren, excellent help as always.

I just replaced mine with the Fabspeed duel pipe. I must say I was very impressed with the quality of the Fabspeed product. Make sure you order the correct ones for your year car as the MK1's are shorter than the MK2.

Taking the old ones off was very easy but you do want to jack up the car for more working room. Putting the Fabspeeds on was not that easy because they (the dual pipe ones) fill up more of the opening and it is a little tighter to work. I also, put painters tape around the exhaust opening on the bumper so I did not scratch the paint when working in that area. Also, adjusting the tips takes time, at least for me, becuase I wanted them perfect.

All in all, it was an easy job. Just take your time. And afterward---well they look great..

Hi PMKAZZ,

Thanks for that, it is the dual tips I have just placed an order for too.

I've gone for the longer tips in the polished finish (not black) as I have a 2002, 3.6, Mk2.

Do you have any pictures of yours fitted?

I'd be keen to see what they look like.

Cheers,

Nick

Nick, I will try to get some pictures tomorrow to post. Not sure what color your car is but---You may want to change your order to the black chrome because it is outstanding. It is not really black but blackened chrome-hard to describe-but I was extremely impressed and glad I did not get the other. They do look great..

Hi again,

I have a silver car and i did think about getting the blacks ones but as i have not seen them in the flesh i was not too sure so went for the safe bet of the silver.

I'd be very keen to see yours in black as i may change my order if they look good.

What colour is your car?

Cheers,

Nick

Nick, My car is white... Note that the black ones are not really black. They are called back chrome and they have a real unique look to them. Here is a black chrome wheel. I will try to take picture this weekend of my tail pipes.
